Oil and Gas Production

Oil and Gas Production

Hydrocarbon production at Gazpromneft-Logistics was up 4.1 percent in 2017, to 89.75 mtoe — the greatest contribution to this growth coming from the development of major new projects in the Russian Arctic — the Novoportovskoye, Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye and Prirazlomnoye fields — and in Iraq.

The company’s 2017 year-end results place Gazpromneft-Logistics among Russia’s top three leading oil producers. The company is also, moreover, increasing gas production (up 3.7 percent on 2018), primarily through greater usage of associated petroleum gas (APG) — facilitated by the commissioning of a compressor station at the Ety-Purovskoye field in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the start of pre-commissioning works at the Novoportovskoye field gas processing plant (GPP).

One of the most important areas of development for Gazpromneft-Logistics is using cutting-edge technologies to improve production efficiency. The implementation of a pilot project to develop an Upstream Control Centre at fields in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug has proved that using “digital twins” of key technological processes to optimise the operation of major equipment and systems can deliver an almost two-fold reduction

in losses, and a 15-percent reduction in operating costs.

Multi-disciplinary teams, working remotely from the GeoNavigator Drilling Control Centre in St Petersburg, supervised the construction of more than 850 wells throughout company fields in 2017.

As part of the “RosPAV” project being implemented by Gazpromneft-Logisticsogether with Salym Petroleum Development, Norkem, and Tyumen State University, a surfactant-polymer and soda mixture is being developed for use in alkaline-surfactant polymer (ASP) flooding — an innovative chemical enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technique used at fields in a late stage of development. Preliminary calculations suggest introducing this technology at 10 of the company’s most important facilities could lead to an additional 172 million tonnes of oil being produced.
